There is a book about the Scotts migration during the 1700's. I can't
recall the name. I think it's something like: Early Scots in North Carolina (
or America) ". I hoped it would give me info on my line that arrived the
first half of 17th century, but only delt with 18th ( and I think 19th)
century. I ordered the book through inter library loan. Since it didn't
pertain to my needs, I didn't copy any of the information. I think they
entered at Charleston or WIlmington, and proceeded to follow the rivers to
settle, with few heading north, mostly westward, or NE. Wherever the
tributerries went.
Because of thier loyalty to the King, many picked up moveable
possessions, family, and slaves, and headed to Ala. (westward) in order to
avoid persecution I just read that recently in an Ala. research tips book.
I am researching the early 1600's for information on my Thomas Moncrieffe
who settle in VA probably prior to 1650. His son John was born 1650 in Sct or
VA. John married Mary GLASGOW b. 1651 Lower Norfold, VA. Their first son was
born 1669 VA. Any help GREATLY appreciated. I think they swam over.
