Subject: [NCSCOTS] Lovedy Campbell McNeill to Autauga County,Alabama-Granddaughter of Laughlin?
Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2011 09:41:09 -0800 (PST)

My cousin and I have just begun on this line of our family, so are kind of at a loss which direction to take.  We have such little to start with.
I will try to state briefly what we have:
Lovedy Campbell McNeill b. 1-4-1804 in Moore County, NC
By 1823 she was in Autauga County, Alabama where she married George Patterson Cruikshank.  Family lore says she and her grandfather, Laughlin/Locklin walked from NC to Autauga County shortly before this time. :>)  After George Patterson was murdered in 1830, she married Isaac Estill in 1838 after she had relocated to Talladega County, Alabama where she lived out her life, dying 8-3-1881.
We have found, from a will of John McNeill, probated in July, 1837 in Coosa County, Alabama a reference to his brother, Duncan's daughter, Lovedy Cruikshank.
A couple of other cousins show Duncan b. 1770-1780 in NC, d. Before 1823 in Cumberland County, NC.  I don't know where they obtained this information.
If you have any knowledge of these McNeil families in NC, so many using the same given names, we would greatly appreciate any guidance you can give us.

Thank you,
