Anybody out there have a copy of the book "Nichol and Osborn Family Tree", written and privately published by Jack Ryan Nichol in California around 1962? The author traced his line back to TN circa 1820, to his ggg-grandfather Benjamin NICHOL, who was also my ancestor by an earlier spouse. He worked hard trying to prove Benjamin came to TN from NC. I examined the book in the Library of Congress in the '70s, when I first began my own research.

I now have good evidence that Benjamin NICHOL did indeed live in NC, but was originally from MD, born in Dorchester Co. in 1769. According to the 1850 Census, Benjamin's first son was born somewhere in NC in 1796; the second was born two years later in Davidson Co., TN. J.R. Nichol's book, as I recall, had an extensive appendix addressing data snippets he had gathered about possible 18th-Century NICHOL relatives in the Orange/Guilford Co. area of NC. Now that I know some of the given names associated with the family back then, I would love to get hold of that book again. Can anyone out there help??
