Karen,

I have some old family records that suggest the Nichol's from Scotland called their home there Nichol Hill. But have not found and source information.

There is also a scroll with 1200 names on it that was created by Daniel D. Royce of NYC. He was an owner of the Rolls-Royce Manufacturing Company. Scroll dates back to 1683when Sir John Nichol married the eldest daughter of the Ninth Earl of Pembrook in Scotland (facts I have not been able to find sources for.

Names included on the scroll include Butler Co , Ohio families of Kramers, of Oxford and Hamilton OH. Nichol, Kyger, Hueston, Beckett, Marshall, Taylor, Beeler ad Wiley.

My data has allowed my daughter to be admitted to the DAR. The Patriot was Major Robert Taylor.

It is said that the Nichol crest is one white dove on a blue shield. The family moved to Butler County , OH in 1809 when Ohio was known as the NT.

Many Nichol ancestors are buried in the Darrtown, OH cematery
