The Somerville Messenger Gazette has some on microfilm dating back to the
early 1840's, however when I was there last year the microfilm reader that
they had was old, in poor shape, did not make copies, and was not very
readable. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a film and take it that
day to the Clinton LDS where I was able to read it on their viewer and then
returned the film the next day. I haven't been able to get back there since
and I don't know if they would let me do that again - I may have just got
lucky that day. From what I saw on the Messenger selection, theirs is
mostly from the Somerville-Raritan area.

I'm looking for CASTNER information from 1807 - 1840. Would there be any
newspapers from that time that are microfilmed ??

The Bound Brook Library has copies of the Bound Brook Chronicle on microfilm
dating back to about 1890. The reader is good and makes good copies (pay).
The Somerset Messenger Gazette in Somerville has microfilm of various
Somerset newspapers going back to the mid 1850's, however when I was there
last year the reader that they had was very poor and you couldn't make
copies from it. It may have changed since then.
