This looks like it was in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, right?

From a comparison of an 1866 map to present-day maps, it appears that
EWEN Street was re-named VERONA Street.......I have no idea why, but
this appears to be the case!

DELAVAN Street is parallel to Verona Street, and it's name has not been
changed....
