If you go to the NARA website

http://1930census.archives.gov/beginSearch.asp

type in your state, then the next page, your county or city. It will take
you to a results page that will list all the institutions in that
county/city that were in existance in 1930.

I've found it very helpful when looking for orphanages and asylums for
various states. It also gives you the microfilm roll number, and the ED.
