Subject: [NYFingerLakes-L] 1845 Census for Cayuga County?
Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 21:42:33 -0700
This seems like a real shot in the dark! MY NJ Decker family moved to
Cayuga County for about three years, then left for Cortland County. I
do not know where they lived in Cayuga County. Was there an 1845 Census
for Cayuga, I could not find a record of one in the FHC listing? It
would be really useful to find them in an 1845 Census or some other
resource, can anyone suggest something?
More details on these Sussex Co.NJ>Cayuga Co. NY Deckers:
James Decker, born 1803 in Wantage, NJ and his wife Mary, born 1813 in
Wantage, NJ, who moved about 1842 to Cayuga County with their four
children, Eleanor, Alfred, Margaret and Frances, all born in Wantage,
NJ. from 1833 to 1841.
In Cayuga County James and Mary DECKER had two more children, Phebe
Elizabeth, born abt 1843, and William D. Decker, born abt. 1844. Then
in 1846 they left Cayuga County for Cortland County, and resided in
McGrawville for about ten years, then James and Mary disappear. Their
son Alfred Decker moved to Seneca Castle, and remained there until about
1912. Their daughter Eleanor married Edwin Ruthven Kinney, and then
both parents died by 1865. Their daughter, Emma Maria Kinney moved to
CA and is my ggrandmother.
Thanks for any help,
Jim French
