I am researching my ancestors who settled in Waterloo, Seneca County, NY
after migrating there from Connecticut in the early 1800's. The only
church records of this family which I have found to date were from St.
Paul's Episcopal Church in Waterloo.

Another researcher recently provided me with a copy of a reference
listing an ancestor of mine as a founding member of the above church in
a book called the Manual of Churches (at the Seneca Co. Historian's
Office).

The description of the church says that the, "first church and
congregation of the Disciples of Christ in Waterloo was organized on
April 1, 1853 by Elder W. A. Belding, preacher and evangelist. In
reference to an 1863 pastor of this church, Clayton Crawford, it says
that he was active in the Christian Endeavor Societies and was elected
to the North Eastern District, Y.P.S.C.E., while in Florida.

Does anyone know anything about this church or what denomination it
might be? Any leads are appreciated! Thanks, Sue Moran
