Russell- The funeral for William E. Durham,87,Russell,was
Wednesday at French Funeral Home,Main St.Edwards. Burial was in Pleasant
View Cemetary in Clare.
Mr.Durham died March 4 at his home.
Donations may be made to the Russell United Methodist Church Fund or Russell
Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Surviving are his wife, Sadie M.,a sister Bertha Scott,Potsdam; a step-sister,Rosella
Curtis of Russell; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A son,Clifford R., died in 1972 and a brother,James, also died before him.
Mr. Durham was born in the town of Fine on October 18,1902,son of Edwin
and Mary Monteville Durham.
He attended schools at Fine and Silver Hill. Mr. Durham married Sadie M.
Brundage on Dec. 24,1923, at the Hermon Methodist parsonage with the Rev.Gordon
Nichols officiating.
Mr. Durham worked as a driller at J&L Steele in Star Lake for 22 years,retiring
in 1969. Later he became a self-employed electrician. He had lived in Russell
since 1925.
He was a charter member of the Russell Volunteer Fire Department and a
former member of the Black Brook Hunting Club.
Mr. Durham was a communicant of the Russell United Methodist Church.
