Funeral Is Friday Afternoon

Native of Town of Brasher Moved to Massena Village in 1902- Suffered Stroke
March 14.

Massena, April 6.- Norman A Hopson, 81, well known farmer and lifelong
resident of this section, died at his home at 100 North Main street at
9:45 Wednesday morning after being in ill health since March 14. He suffered
a stroke at that time but was not confined to his bed until the last few
days.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 at the home with Dr
David H Woodward, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Interment
will be in Pine Grove cemetery.

Mr Hopson was born June 5, 1851, son of Beman M and Catherine Loucks Hopson,
on a farm in the town of Brasher, known as the Waite farm. When he was
ten years of age he moved with his parents to a farm on the St Lawrence
river road between Massena Center and Tracys Landing. About four miles
from this village. He attended the district schools and 52 years ago on
March 20 he married Margaret May Tracy. They resided on the Hopson farm
until December, 1902, when they moved to the village of Massena and resided
here since, Mr Hopson continuing to operate his farm.

Mr Hopson was a member of the Foresters and of the grange.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs Margaret May Hopson; two sons, Floyd B Hopson,
Maple street, and Ellswood C Hopson, Beach street; two daughters, Mrs Benjamin
Whitham, 254 Castlefield, Toronto, Ont; and Mrs Howard B Charles, 100 North
Main street; also eight grandchildren. He was a member of a family of seven
children, all now being dead.
