BIO: Serendipity is defined as the ability to make a desirable discovery
by accident, or finding something you need while looking for something
else. Genealogists recognize it to be possibly one of the most important
and valuable tools in genealogy research.

In the Nov-Dec 1996 issue of Everton's "Genealogical Helper" magazine,
pg. 200, is a wonderful formal photo of the John & Catharine (Mahony) McCarthy
Family taken in 1889. They posed for a group picture at Dow's Studio in
Ogdensburg (St. Lawrence) NY. The family lived in Prescott, Ontario and
owned the Grenville Brewery. John McCarthy was the son of David and Ellen
(Kent) McCarthy who came from Ireland to Dundee, Quebec in 1826.

Pictured are Sarah Easter (was born, also died on Easter), who married
John Leacy; John, who had no descendants; Margaret, who married Patrick
Dohevy and raised a family in Prescott; Edward, who had no descendants;
Harried (?sp), who married Patrick Doyles; William Charles, who was a lawyer
in Toronto and Ottawa; David James; John McCarthy; Catharine (Mahony) McCarthy;
Charlotte Loretta, who married Joseph Weller and raised a family in Washington,
D. C. where she was to die young; Charles Augustine, a lawyer from Georgetown,
married Mary; and Dorothea Weller.

The Queensbury, NY submitter her shared her photograph was granddaughter
to Charles Augustine. Please reference that issue for more details.
