Gouverneur, Feb. 25. - Dr. Frank D. Allen, a practicing physician at Richville for the past 56 years, observed his 86th birthday at his home yesterday. Dr. and Mrs. Allen were honor guests at a birthday dinner at the Lido restaurant, Gouverneur, Saturday night.
Attending the dinner were Don Allen, Ogdensburg, a son; Mr. and Mrs. Roy T. Allen, Gouverneur, son and daughter-in-law; Mrs. Harold E. Conway, Gouverneur, granddaughter;
Mr. Conway, Nancy Jean Conway a great granddaughter;
Mr. and Mrs. Emory Pike, Hailesboro, and Mrs. B. F. Hull, Gouverneueur.
Dr. Allen was born Feb. 24, 1860, at Antwerp, the son of Lorenzo D. and Nancy Cummings Allen. He attended Gouverneur academy and studied at the University of the City of New York and at Burlington, Vt. Dr. Allen began his medical career in Gouverneur when he was associated with his brother, the late Dr. Andrew H. Allen. He acquired the
practice of Dr. Charles B. Hawley Richville, in September, 1888.
Dr. Allen served as coroner for 30 years. He has served as Richville village health officer for 55 years and town health officer for the past 30 years. He is a past master and member of the Masonic blue lodge, Richville. Dr. Allen holds a 50-year medal in the organization.
