Jane,
On the 1920 census there is a Delbert Hutchinson who owns a farm on Black
Lake Road - his name is listed close to my grandfather's name on the census.
I'm guessing that that means that the farms were near each other. Do you
know the town that this area is in?
Any idea who I could contact to ascertain the former O'Connor farm location
or who owns it now? I'm hoping there may be a deed that could provide some
family information. I think (but don't know) that my grandfather (Michael
John O'Connor) inherited the farm from his father (Michael? O'Connor). I
know that my grandfather sold the farm, moved to Ogdensburg and ran a
grocery store.
I'm having a great deal of difficulty locating my great grandfather.
Now - if only I could "know" more than what I "think" I'd really be
accomplishing something!

Thanks for the information you provided - it's been helpful.
Liz

Black Lake Rd. is County Rt. 6. Going north-east on Rt. 37, it is a right
hand turn onto Lake St. which turns into Black Lake Rd. There should be a
small vacant lot on one corner with a brick house next to it. When my
husband & I were there last summer the house was For Sale. I wish I had the
money to buy it. My great grandfather Hutchison lived in that brick house.
My Murray ancestors had a farm on Black Lake Rd. and our family still owns
land (the buildings are gone) on a road off the Black Lake Rd. that has been
in our family since 1839.
