The message boards are searchable - start at www.rootsweb.com, message
boards, NY, St. Lawrence county. I tried looking for info on 94th
Regiment, NY using google.com and found some references to the NY city
area? What is the soldiers name? Did he enroll from St. Lawrence
county? If so, from what town?

Your best bet would be an inquiry for copies of original records from
the National Archives in DC.

Here is a National Park Service site:
http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/soldiers.htm

that lists soldiers and sailors (Union and Confederate) in a vast
database. You didn't list any name so I couldn't search by name. I
tried a search for 94th regiment, NY but that was not found. You might
want to try variations on a search at that site and also go to the
national archives website: http://www.archives.gov/ to look into getting
copies of records they might have. Read their guidelines first and give
them as much info as you have to make their search easier.

Also, you may want to re-post your note to this mail list and include
the names of people your are researching. Others may be researching the
same names. Also, since the list is searchable, others in the future
might search those names and get back to you months or even years from
now.

Hope this helps -

Hello list,

I have not been keeping any of the emails that were sent out on
Civil War records for people from St Lawrence County because my
great grandfather moved from there and enlisted from Illinois.
Yesterday I received information from a distant cousin that her
great grandfather (the youngest brother of my great grandfather)
enlisted 1 Nov 1861 in Co B, 94th Regiment of New York Vol
and was discharged 1 July 1862 due to a disability (he was
wounded). Was there anything in all of the information sent that
I could use to find out more about his service, or should I write
for a copy of his service/pension records to Washington??

Thank you,
Dottie Hinrichs
