I too have an interest in the mine(s) around DeKalb. My Grandfather Oscar Bouchard started work at a mine there in 1889 upon his immigration from Quebec. I don't have my notes here at work, but I recently visited the History Museum and archives just outside DeKalb Junction searching for information on the mine(s). There was a Stella Mine on the road between DeKalb Junction and Hermon, which is probably where my grandfather worked. The best information I have been able to come up with yet is that Stella Mining Co. didn't buy the mine on that road until a couple of years after 1900. (1903 sticks in my mind). I may have the original name of the mine at home on some information I took away from the visit with the deputy historian in DeKalb Junction. I will have a look when I get home.
