I am looking for the grave of my GGGrandfather John McCAWLEY who died in Monterey, Russell County on June 1st 1872. This is based on the following articles from newspaper archives.

"Vital Statistics From New Brunswick (Canada) Newspapers"
Extracts from SAE list of Cawley / Cauley search 8 June 1002 by Thomas J. Hunter.

728 d. Monterey, State of New York, 1st June, age 107, John McCAWLEY, formerly Sgt. in British Army, in which he served 20 years and fought in 15 general engagements under sir. Arthur WELLESLEY. He was a native of County Sligo, Ireland and for many years a resident of Lepreau (Charlotte Co.) N.B. (cross reference: McAULEY

1316 The death of Sgt. John McAULEY at Monterey, N.Y. has already been noticed. His farm, a short distance this side of Lepreaux (Charlotte Co.) is still known as McAuley Place. He had served 15 years in the British Army and was in 15 general engagements under the Duke of Wellington. He was a native of Sligo, Ireland and at the time of his death was 107 years old. He was actually 97 years old and had moved to Monterey from Ingersoll, Canada West (Ontario) in 1862, with his son Edward. I have the census and directory data from Russell Town (ship). The family left the area in the 1880's for Michigan. I found the deeds for the property that Edward McCauley of Ingersoll, Canada West purchased on 21 April 1863 from Charles F. and Electa S. Egert of Ogdensburgh.
>From the description it was a parcel about 2600 ft. E/W by about 1793 ft. N/S, somewhere in great parcel 3, Sarahasburg. It seems that Sarahasburg was part of Russell and part of Fine townships. From the Beer’s 1865 map of south Russell it was a large section west of Monterey, but Beers doesn’t show the subdivisions of parcel 3.

>From a 1980 Topographic map I see a cemetery called Pleasant View located just NE of Degrasse and I have surmised that Monterey is now Degrasse. This cemetery does not appear in your listings
This cemetery also appears on earlier maps.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this cemetery?
