I have a copy of my gr,gr,uncle's obituarary from the Gouverneur Free Press. Benjamin Howard Smith was born in Williamston, Vt. on June 17, 1800 and died in Gouverneur in Jan of 1899, just months after his wife Caroline (Jackson) Smith passed away. It states that he died at his home on the corner of ROCK ISLAND and BARNEY STREET. I ordered an 1875 map of Gouverneur on ebay and was disappointed to find out that there were no street names. It would mean a lot to me to find a map that lists Gouverneur streets. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me.
