Hersie Towne, 60, died early Sunday morning at his home at 349 North State street, Lowville.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Scanlon funeral home, Harrisville, and at 2 p.m. in the Fine Methodist church with Rev. Elwyn Putney, pastor of the East Pitcairn Wesleyan Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in Woodland cemetery, Fine. Friends may call at the funeral home.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Gray Towne; a step-son, Donald Towne, in Ohio; a brother. Leland Towne, Newton Falls; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Towne Compo, Ogdensburg; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Towne was born at Benson Mines Nov. 21, 1903, a son of Elmer and Della Baxter Towne. He married Mary Gray on March 19, 1960 in Carthage.
He was a member of the Fine Methodist church and Oswegatchie F & A.M. Lodge 687 for 28 years. He worked for the state department of highways.
Bearers will be Theodore Noyes, Lawrence LaVancha, Darrel Best, Claude Gray, Carl VanBrocklin and Burton Gray.
