I've posted this here, the Erie Co. list, and the Monroe Co. list. If you
are on any other county lists, please pass this information on. I can't be
the only person (I hope not anyway) who didn't know about these trains.

For almost 75 years children were sent by train from east coast cities
"west"
to find new homes and jobs. Today an estimated 4,000,000 descendants of
these riders are living in America- many not even knowing that they had an
ancestor who was an orphan train rider.

Possibly as many as 400,000 children rode the trains out of New York City.
Local families took some of these children in. We are learning of more and
more local riders daily. Please check with your friends and family to
collect
stories for our group's collection.

OCGS recently received the honor of becoming the repository for information
on riders in New York State.

Please try to attend our educational event, Saturday, April 17th, 2004 when
we will do a reenactment of this event onboard the vintage train out of the
Medina Railroad Museum. Tickets are selling quickly- please order your
tickets
now if you wish to attend. This is a great opportunity to take children to
a
fun- yet educational day.

Adult tickets are $17, children's $13. Drop your check to" OCGS P.O. Box
103, Albion, NY 14411

All Aboard!!!!!!!
