Hi Cindi - depending on what time range these people lived in Hermon, there are different sources of info you could check. If you have any birth, death or marriage dates, plus a given name or two to go with the surname, you might want to re-post your query with that info.

A good start in general would be the county site under usgenweb. Start at www.usgenweb.org, click on 'state's pages' then NY state then 'choose a county' and select St. Lawrence county.

Another excellent resource (no matter where in the country they lived) is the 1880 census transcription and index at www.familysearch.org - click on 'search for ancestors' then (at left of screen) 'census' and select the 1880 US census.
