Do you have first names of any of these people? The 1870 St. Lawrence County census lists 19 Gothams and at least twice as many James'. The Gothams are mainly from Russell and Dekalb areas which are in the vicinity of Pyrites. Could be your relatives. Check out Anne Cady's transcriptions on the USGenWeb site.
