Hi Charlie,

Oakes or Oaks is a project I started about 2 years ago for a friend. His name is Larry Oakes of Brasher Falls, NY.

My research is mainly in Franklin County, New York in the area of Brushton and Bangor where Richard Oaks and Flora White settled when they came out of Quebec. I was told there were 20 children in this family though can not prove this at this point.
The name was "RACINE" and later RACINE DIT BEAUCHESNE. Now BEAUCHESNE means "Oak Tree"

Do you know if your Oaks were in Franklin County or not? Have not heard the name you mention.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my query.

Michael A. Hunter
