Try this. Go to www.usgenweb.org, click NY the 'choose a county' and choose St. Lawrence county. From the top page, click 'places' then 'Ogdensburg' then 'Como and Ashley Families and Pictures of Ogdensburg'. The site has many historical photos of Ogdensburg. In the lower left part of their front page is a search box. If you search 'orphanage' you get several hits. If you search 'st. joseph orphanage' the results don't look right. Not sure if you will see anything of use but there are many photos there.

Also, if you can request a search of records at the SLCHA (St. Lawrence county historical association). Go to this site:

http://slcha.org/

Where there is info on their resources and a mail to link for email. I believe there is a fee for a search. I'm pretty sure they have an extensive collection of photos which might include the orphanage.

If you know the date the orphanage was torn down, there likely would have been newspaper stories about it's history and possibly some photos. For info on old NY state newspapers available on microfilm via interlibrary loan, do a google search for 'ny state newspaper project'.

Hope this helps -
