This is it! This is exactly what I needed. Gladys ran away when she was a teenager. My grandfather, her brother, called her a wild woman. There was some hint that she went to Key West and worked as a telephone operator, but this was just rumors. We couldn't even peg a birthdate for her. Now that we have an approximation, we have a place to start.
I assume the census was taked in June or July of each year, so if she was not listed before June 1900, that her birthday would have to be after June 1900 and before June 1901 in order to be 9 yrs old in the 1910 Census.
