There are other ways to confirm the death date for Jeremah Goodison than the
Census Records.
These 1881 - 1915 Vital records are available:
The original records in possession of Walter and Mary Smallman, Hermon, New
York In Hermon NY. or can be ordered on microfilm for a low fee from the LDS
at your Family History Center. and viewed on the reader (no charge). That
gives you 2 places to obtain them.
In addition her Death Certificate would be on file at the City/Town/Village
Clerk where she Died. I would check the Town of Oswegatchie first and if they
do not have it she might of been at the hospital which is in the City of
Ogdensburg. Ask for a complete copy stating the cause of death and tell them it is
for genealogical purposes. .
William is in 1920 Onondaga County Census for the Town of Van Buren living
with his wife Jessie. He is 32 years of age per the Census and Jessie is 26.
The have 3 chilren Florence Age 7, Marian Age 6 and Jane age 10/12 months. He
is working at the Steel Mill (at that time it would be Holcomb in Solvay NY
and today it is Crusible Steel) as a machinist. One can leave it to Ancestry as
they transcribed the youngest as Mane.(one reason not to rely on them for
everything as they make many transcription errors). It is clearly Jane.
William signed for his WW1 Daft registration on June 5 1917 At that time he
is married with 2 Children and living in the Tn of VanBuren, Post Office is
Warners (just outside the city of Syracuse) and it clearly states he was B in
Heuvelton NY (Here again the transcription by Ancestry.Com states Nebraska ?) But
it clearly states Heuvelton and is legible. At that time he was employed at
Brown Lipe Chapin which is no longer, but manufactured Automobile parts on the
west side of Syracuse NY. It clearly states his B as 13 Aug 1886.
William Died in Los Angeles Ca and his SS# is 094050440 and states he D in
Sept 1966. His DOB is shown here as 23 Oct 1886 in New York State. This is
probably just a record error or perhaps the person reporting his death to the SS
Board did not actually know his month of Birth.
