Hi Leslie,
I am listing the 1860,1880 & 1900 Census records below, just in case you do
not have them (Could not find the Wm Carr family in 1870)--
1860 US Census, Oswegatchie, St. Lawrence, NY
CARR, William H. 49
CARR, Permelia 45
CARR, Orson O 18
CARR, Mary 69
The young Mary is no longer with the family.
1880 US Census, Lisbon, St. Lawrence, NY
CARR, William H. 67
CARR, Orson O. 38
CARR, Emma 33
CARR, Mary E. 10
CARR, Hattie B. 8
CARR, Alfred O. 2
Mary seems to be a 3 generation naming pattern in the Wm Carr family and
first female child Mary naming pattern for at least 2 generations,so it
seems unlikely if/when Mary died, she would have been buried as Martha.
Based on the first female child naming pattern, I would guess Martha was
possibly born after the 1840 Census and may have died before the 1850 Census
(or after 1850 and before 1860)--sadly for your research, like she never
existed....
1900 US Census, Liston, St. Lawrence, NY
CARR, Orson O., 58, b Aug 1841, married 34 yrs (married 1866), Farmer, Owns
Farm, b NY, (All born NY, including everyone's parents)
CARR, Emma E, 53, b Oct 1846, 3Births/3Living
CARR, Hattie 26, b Sep 1873
CARR, Alfred O., 22, b June 1877
This is a long shot, but if you have access to an LDS family history library
nearby, you can order the 1855 NY STATE Census microfilm from Salt Lake
City, if they do not have it in their library and see if there is a Martha
with the Wm Carr family in 1855.
Good Luck,
Diana
