Joseph Forsyth lived in Macomb, St. Lawrence County, NY. He enlisted in Company D, 186th New York Volunteers on August 25, 1864, and his company was mustered in on September 7, 1864. He was discharged May 26, 1865. He was wounded while serving with his company at the Battle of Petersburg, Virginia, and spent time in several hospitals including Mower Hospital in Philadlelphia, PA before discharge.
He migrated to Pierce County, Nebraska in 1879 where he passed away on October 30, 1922.
Information was taken from Joseph's military pension records and obituary.
