When I was a kid visiting my grandparents in tusc-a-RAW-us
county, we used to enjoy listening to the way non-local radio
reporters pronounced Gnadenhutten, Schoenbrunn, and Cadiz (okay, I
slipped over the border into Harrison here). (The straight
dope: the g is not silent, SHUN-brun, CAD-iz.)
My younger sibs named a cat Tuscarawas Ross once, for my
parents' birth counties. The full name was used only on formal
occasions. Mostly she was Tusky or The Cat.
Real happy to see this list,
