Jim/Bev/Everyone:

Jim---Haven't found out which Masonhall was the bus driver for Homestead
School but it definitely was a close relative as there are only about 12
people on the planet with that surname and they're all related! Will keep
asking around...

Quick personal bio---was born in Guthrie (the old hospital...torn down and
now the parking lot for the one there)---grew up in Bethany, Warr Acres and
Oklahoma City from 1942-1956. Even though a "city" boy, spent every
possible school vacation and summertime on the farm around Eagle City and
Canton.

Two ancestral branches of my family merged in the
Homestead/Fairview/Longdale/Canton area around the turn of the century.
They were the DOANES and the MASONHALLS. Addie Doan (yes, different
factions of the same family spell it differently), daughter of Benjamin
Grant Doan and Rebecca Jane Sample/Doan (they are both buried in Plymouth
Cemetery) married ALBERT MASONHALL, last of 12 children of George Henry
Masonhall and Sarah Jane Peckham/Masonhall (they are both buried in
Homestead Cemetery) and they produced my father.

Benjamin and Rebecca hailed from Jefferson County, Kansas where they were
married and Ben made the run on the opening day of the Cherokee Strip and
staked a 160 acre claim about 4 miles south of Fairview. George Henry and
Sarah came to Oklahoma in the Fall of 1897 and farmed in the Plymouth area.

Other Doan(e) children were Fred, Richard, Annie, Harry, Claude, Katie,
Ray, Jessie, Pearl and Edith. Other Masonhall children were Will, Charley,
Annie, Mary, Laura, Ida, Eddie, Ella, Leslie and Lester.

Surnames associated with these two broods mentioned above are, of course,
Masonhall and Doane but also MENEFEE, EPPERLY, KOPF, AMES AND OUTHIER.
(You'll find most of their graves and those of their descendants in the
Homestead Cemetery).

My Dad and I spent last Christmas in that area and a memorable event
occured in the home of my cousin in Fairview when both Doane and Masonhall
relatives gathered for a mini family reunion. (Jim, one of the topics was
the deterioration of the Plymouth Cemetery.)

My two-page website should expand to about 5 or 6 pages within the next
week or so as I'm completing detailed family histories on both of these
branches of my tree. If anyone has a connection with any of the above
people, please let me know. The quest never ends!
