Subject: [FRENCH-NEWSPAPERS] Leona Dare

My great great aunt was Susan Adeline Stewart born in 1855. In Louisiana
she met Thomas Hall who taught her gymastics. She became Leona Dare and
worked with circuses in Europe. She was billed as the Pride of Madrid and
also The Queen of the Antilles. In 1889 she was suspended by a trapeze
attached to a balloon and did several aerial stunts. Would there be an
article about this stunt and perhaps a picture? It said that spectators
from all over the capital crowded in to see the stunt. Would there be other
newspaper accounts of Leona Dare? It seems though she had a brief career
with the circuses, she traveled throught out Europe and particularly Spain.
I guess in Spain she had an accident where she dropped her partner and he
was killed. Is there anything about this incident circa 1884. His name was
M. George.

If there is articles about Leona Dare, please let me know how to obtain
copies of the newspaper articles and hopefully pictures.

Thanks for any help. I don't need the articles translated for I will see if
I can find some one that can help there.

Sincerely

Chris Fox
