Hi everyone,
My name is Pat Raymond. My Great Grandmother was married to Lanta
(Lantie or Lanty) Oliphant. All three spellings were used in different
papers.
The first Oliphant in my line that I can find was Atlanda Oliphant who
showed up in the 1830 census for Asylum Township, Bradford County, PA. He was
born in 1790 and died in 1881. His wife's name in 1830 was Mary. His second
wife was Polly, she showed up in the 1860 census.
Atlanta had the following children: William b-1826, Benjamin b-1831,
Daniel b-1827, Daughter b-1835, Ellen b-1839, and Charles b-1847. I believe
that there was another daughter, Mary Ann, b-1819 who married John Brunges.
Benjamin was my Great Great Grandfather. He was in the Civil War 141st
PA Volunteers, Co. A. He is buried in Overfield Cemetary near Meshoppen, PA.
I believe that his wife Matilda, and Atlanta are buried there too, but
Benjamin is the only one with a headstone. Benjamin and Matilda had the
following children:
John, Anna b-1862, Lanta Alanson b-1865, Almon b-1868, and Ida b-1870.
They may have had more children, but these were listed in the 1870 census
(except for John, who was not born yet, but I knew about him from other
sources.
They lived in Asylum Township and Wilmot Township, Bradford County. I
believe Benjamin moved to Jenningsville, Windham Township, Wyoming County
between the 1870 and 1880 census, but I haven't checked that one out yet.
I do know that Ellen (daughter of Atlanta) married william Mace and had
children: Grant, Christina, John, George, Daniel, Bertie and Austain, all
born between 1862 and 1880.
If anyone can help me I would really appreciate it, as I have hit a wall
as to where Atlanta came from.
Thank you anyone for your assistance.
