Subject: [ORWASCO] Request for Property sale lookup

Hi,
I'm hoping someone might be able to check to see if there might be land record data for the sale of a home, rather than a property.
On his homestead application, William W. Olmstead claims to have purchased the house (not the property) of "D. F. Stanbro" which would be his father-in-law DeForrest "Forrest" Stanbro. The homestead site was along Ramsey Creek. Olmstead's homestead application indicates he & his family arrived March 1, 1878.
The 80 acres is in Sec.2, Twp. 2S, R12E. The application requirements were completed June 30, 1882. The Dalles directory of 1883 lists thesettlers of Dufur and vicinity including: ... W. W. Olmstead... (no Stanbro)".
By June 1885, the Olmsteads had moved back to the mid-west (Overton, NE).
I've looked online and cannot find any property sale lists for Wasco County. I am hoping to find a volunteerwho lives in the area to look at The Dalles Public Library or the County Courthouse for a sale of the above property between June 1882 and June 1885.
I am also hoping someone can tell me if the sale of the house might have been recorded somewhere (and if so, where?) since Omstead's cash entry file indicates he purchased the house from his father-in-law. If I can find that record, it might indicate how long Stanbro had lived in that specific location.
The father-in-law, Stanbro, is first recorded in the 15 Mile Precinct in the 1860 census. It is possible that Stanbro lived in the Ramsey Creek area for at least two decades, but never filed a homestead application; I don't think he could ever put together enough money to pay for the land. It is also possible that he moved around within the same area, renting rather than buying.
(Note: Olmstead has sometimes been recorded as 'Olmsted' and also as 'Olinstead'. Stanbro has been recorded as Stanbro, Stanbrow, Stanbrough, Stanborough, Stansbro, Stamsbro, etc., sometimes multiple spellings within the same document!)
Hoping to hear from a kind volunteer!
Thanks,
Patti
