Dear Listers,

I am new to the List.

I wonder if anyone else is interested in the family I am researching?

My children's great-grandfather, David OSBORNE, was born in
Braide/Braade near Glencolumbkille/Glencolmcille in SW Donegal in 1851.

His parents were John OSBORNE (b. abt 1808 and died in Braide on 6 Jun
1879 aged 71) and Elizabeth (Bess) MAXWELL (b. abt 1815 and died in
Braide on 25 Jul 1878 aged 63).

David's brothers and sisters included:
*Hannah who married Moses McNELIS. Descendants of hers were still in
Donegal in recent years; some migrated to the US - New York, Iowa,
Montana, etc.
*James - it is believed that James emigrated to Chicago, USA and had
family there including a son Robert Maxwell OSBORNE.
*George - there are descendants in Dublin
*Frances
*Anne
*John (or Jane) who died as an infant
*John who also died as an infant.

David OSBORNE emigrated to Australia in about 1876. He married Ruth Ann
DALTON and died in 1934. They had two daughters so the OSBORNE name did
not continue through him.

It is believed that he was a descendant of George OSBURN, whose
tombstone in the Glencolumbkille churchyard reads "Here Lyeth the body
of George Osburn who Departed this Life Sept ye 8th 1793 Aged 63 Years
who was a good husband and a Loveing parent". However, this cannot yet
be verified.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who might recognise any of these
names.
