The final episode has just been screened. The search for the "Y" chromosome has produced evidence of Norwegian Viking ancestory in the northern Scottish Islands but virtually nowhere else, indicating that in most places they were there to rule and not to contibute to the local gene pool.

In the south of England the Danish Viking genes proved to be too close to the Anglo Saxons to be identified as a separate source.
