Hi Leslie and others

I read your query with interest, have recorded some of your family info even
though there is no apparent connection to my O'Shaughnessys (yet), mine came
from Limerick c1841. I live near North Bay and would be happy to check
some sources here for you on your O'Neils.

This is what I have:
James O'Neil b 1798 Co. Clare d 1873 md. 1) Johanna McManus 2) Catherine
O'Shaughnessy b c1820 Ire d 28 Jly 1894, Eganville, 74 yrs
Childr: James William b 30 Jul 1861 Eganville
Anne m Patrick McNamara (s/o Martin)

My sources for the above are:
1) LDS film 1304907 Eganville RC church records (Catherine's death & James
William's birth)
2) "Founding Families of Bromley Twp" by Carol Bennett-McQuaig (info re
James' 1st marr., and dtr Anne's marr info)
3) Vital Stat Death cert. for Catherine.

Since I am working on retranscribing the St. Mary's Cemetery in North Bay, I
checked the records for O'Neil James William and Margaret (Aurie), nothing
found. I'll keep looking.

Your story about the two sisters marrying two brothers has a familiar ring,
and I don't know if there is any connection, and this is a long shot, but
this same story was told to me by Kathy (Shaughnessy) Tripp in Bancroft.
She descends from William Shaughnessy & Mary Peria. William's parents were
John & Catherine who emigr. c 1841 as well, settled in Pontiac Mich. for a
time, William was born there, John and Catherine both died in a flu epidemic
apparently. I have looked for another Shaughnessy marrying a Peria and
found nothing, so maybe it was in the earlier generation, and again maybe,
this is why William found his way back up to Maynooth, Eganville area??
Another little coincidence, William named one of his daughters Susan.
