Census Bill Passes Third Reading in Senate

I want to take a moment to thank all of the Senators who voted
in favour of S-18 on April 20th. The bill has now passed the
Senate and we are hoping that in the midst of this very difficult
Parliament, the bill will get final approval.

The debate in the Senate was quite heated and reflected the fact
that there are still those who are, quite rightfully, concerned about
privacy issues. However, in the long run, the Senate did conclude
that this bill is an honest compromise that addresses everyone's
concerns. So without further ado, I want to thank my 50
colleagues who joined me in supporting S-18. - Senator Lorna Milne
