Hello,

I am looking for information on Harvey George Sampson, my gg grandfather,
most especially his parentage or siblings. Harvey was born 1827, possibly
OH, PA or VA. He died in 11 Mar 1911, possibly Clay County, WV. He has been
found in the 1850 Aleppo Twp, Greene Co, PA
census with his first wife, Anna RIGGS; 1860 Roane County VA census, I
believe still with Anna; 1870 Washington Twp, Braxton Co, census; 1880 &
1900 Calhoun Co, WV census.

Harvey and Anna had the following children: Margaret Jane (Anna) b. 24 Mar
1850 m. Jacob Adam STARCHER on 19 Jul 1866; John Wesley 17 Oct 1857; William
Ayers 23 Dec 1859 m. Mary Bell KERBY on 12 Apr 1885; Jeremiah
"Preston" b. 01 Oct 1861 m. Elizabeth CARPENTER on 25 Jun 1882, and Lee
Roy 1868 m. Bell MARK(S) on 22 Jan 1895.

Harvey m. Rachel Dianna COTTRILL on 23 Dec 1873 in Braxton Co, WV. They had
the following children: David Andrew b. 1866 m. Margaret McCUMBERS on 07 Jan
1887; Martha Jane Dec 1866 m. Albert J. BAILEY on 24 Apr 1886;
Marshall S. 1867 m. Anna BUTLER on 25 Dec 1891; Mary Matilda July 1871 m.
Michael WALLBROWN abt 1887; Harvey Jr, 12 May 1872 m Laura McCUMBERS on 18
Sep 1894, and Floyd b. 09 Nov 1875 m. Pricy WAYNE on 24 Apr 1898, and James
Riley b. 1878.

Harvey Samson (Simpson) served the Virginia State Rangers/State Line troops
and later, was 1st Lt in Co H, 19th Cav VA (Moccasin Rangers,)
enlisting for 3 yrs at Clay County, VA. He was reported AWOL 15 Dec 1864 and
agreed to sign the Oath on 06 July 1865.

I have seen where one researcher has Harvey's father's name as Jonathan but
my messages to the researcher go unanswered so I don't know what the source
is for this information.

Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated!
