Randy,
Glad to hear from you and I'm sorry I've been out of town for a couple weeks
...then with the drought here in the state
a lot of people are getting rid of their cattle and I got about a 1/4 mile
river frontage so water is no problem and I have been out looking at some
good herds and would like to pick up some.
I have reviewed both sets of the patent books and put down the page
number that mentioned Sara Sandlin page 168...the other
page 226 Hughes mentioned is not the page I found it ..If I recall ..Sara
was not in the other patent book..but I could be wrong...since I have the
page in my hand and it clearly says page 168 I'm sure there is a reason or
a misprint for page number 226...but the
information is exact as mine.
The relationship of the parties were my my reason for posting this
message...the fact that Sara Sandland
was imported to this country by Thomas Thomason or at least sold her bill
of passage and the fact that
he sold the land to John Sandland who has the same last name and only lived
about
20/30 miles from the farm where Sara was supposed to have lived and the
farm that John
bought....actually Sara may have never lived in King William
Co. She may have paid her way over and sold the rights to her passage over
here...which people did everyday so they...people like Thomason
could buy more land...as I'm sure you remember they had to import a person
for every 50 acres they wished to buy..
she could have arrived in Charleston SC and traveled up here and sold her
proof of paid passage for the going rate.
If you look where our people lived it was always on the water and its the
same with me ..my first house was on the James river and my 2nd is here on
the South Anna River.
Our people moved up the York River area...and spread out into close
counties short distances from where we started from..
Well I have some more work to do tonight...keep in touch!
Mel Sandlin.... Richmond,Va

In another week or two I hope to start putting everything I have on line 2
or 3 times a week till its all there as I'm 70 years old and any thing could
happen and I would feel comfortable knowing its out there...I can still hit
15 out of 20 fastballs
in the 80 mph cage!!! I've coached for 40 years and a lot of college kids I
coached couldnt' do that so don't feel sorry for me. I just feel this stuff
should be out there.

This is the only thing I have ever seen on her.
