Hi all,
I looked into my book 1000 Ausflugsziele in Schleswig-Holstein and I found a
listing for Plön. I had a friend translate it for me...hope this helps.

It starts out as:
Die Kreisstadt in der Holsteininshcen Schwiez wurde vor 1,000 jahren (years)
erstmals unter dem Namen Plune, das heisst (the name) "Die Eisfreie",
historich erwähnt (mentioned). Ein slawischer Herrscher errichtete am
Grossen Plöner See die Burg Plune.

(The capital of a region in Holstein was mentioned 1000 years ago for first with
the name Plune "meaning without Ice". a slawian boss built the castle plune
near the ploener sea)

Jahrhunderte später entstand eine Burg der Holsteiner Grafen von
Schauenburg, zu deren Füssen sich eine Marktsiedlung entwickelt. Dies
erheilt 1236 das Lübsche Stadtrect und damit eine freiheitliche Rasverfassung.

Im Jahre 1633 wrude der Schlossbau von Hersog Ernst Joachim begonned und
in den Folgejahren zu einer prächtigen Residenz ausgebaut.

years they got a precious residence
