Subject: [S-H-RTS] MEVES and ALBRECHTS in Schleswig

Hello Group,
I'm looking for the husband, siblings, and parents of Anna Catherine MEVES, born 24 December 1821 somewhere in Schleswig. Her entry on the passenger list stated only "Schleswig" as previous residence. I don't know whether they meant the city or the state.
Anna married an ALBRECHT (given name unknown) in Germany, and he passed away before she came to the U.S. in 1875.
Various records for Anna's daughters stated they were from Schaalby, which is near the city of Schleswig. On the passenger list with two of Anna's daughters was a Hans MEVES, age 57, of Davenport, Iowa. He may have been acting as an escort for the two young ladies, and perhaps he was their uncle. Anna and daughters settled around Davenport. The Albrecht daughters were Dorothea Henrietta (Doris) who married in Schaalby Peter Heinrich BOYSEN; Katharina Agatha Paulina Sophia who married in Davenport Claus HANNO of Buchholz, Dithmarschen, Holstein; Agnes who married Claus SIEVERS; Maria (Mary) who married in Davenport Ferdinand Moeller; and Louisa who married in Davenport Hans J. VOGT.
There were quite a number of MEVES and ALBRECHTS in the Davenport area, but I have yet to establish a connection. I am also curious about the MEVES name. It does not sound German. Does anyone know its origin?
Thank you!
Kay
