Dear Listers,
You have not heard so much from us some days. Don`t worry, we are very busy with other things at the moment, so I was on business trip for some days and will be again next week. Additionally we have very nice summerweather and we do`t like to spend this short summer while sitting at the computer. We will go on soon.
Attached you see an information that I sent some time ago concerning old german measures. I hope it will help a little.
The other thing is that we are gathering material to create our own homepage, we will edit this page later in autum this year when weather turns rainy and wet. There we will present you some information and photos from Schleswig Holstein, we take these photos now at summertime when we are going around. Additionally we are planning to give some deeper information about living, measures....... in the past.
You will hear more soon
Wolfgang
Areas:
1 danish ( I think this one was used in Schleswig Holstein) Tonne = 55,162
Ar.
1 Ar = 100 qm (square meter)
100 Ar = 1 Hektar
100 Hektar = 1 qkm (square kilometer)
1 Hektar = app 2.5 acre
So: 1 Tonne = 5516 qm
2 Tonnen = app 1 Hektar
1 Tonne = app 1.22 acre
1 english square mile = 2 4/5 qkm
1 german square mile = 21 1/8 english square miles
Distances:
1 english mile = 1 2/3 kilometer
4 3/5 english miles = 1 german mile (geographic mile)
All distances in the topographie are shown in german miles.
I hope that will help a bit or maybee confuse you totally???
