Hello,

Unfortunately I do not have your name so I could not address you personally.

As I live in Hamburg and am conducting professional genealogy here I might
be able to assist you in your quest for the death certificate of Lisette
Behrmann.

As of 1937, Blankenese officially became part of the city of Hamburg. Prior
to that date it belonged to what is nowadays Schleswig-Holstein.

The Hamburg general registry office has a listing of all birth, marriage and
death records as of 1876 in Hamburg and gives information on the number of
the certificate and at which local registry office the original record is
housed. After the inquiry at the general registry office one can contact the
local office in question and request a certified copy of the certificate.

However, due to the protection of personal data law in Germany, only direct
descendants are able and allowed to obtain these records, e.g. children,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren. In order to proof this you would need to
supply a copy of your birth certificate, a copy of your parent's wedding
certificate and a copy of your family tree - anything that confirms your
direct relation to this person.

As for the cost of this: The general registry office usually charges around
7-15 EUR for a search in their indexes, the registry office in question
charges EUR 7 for providing a copy of a certificate.

I conduct research on an hourly basis at EUR 30 per hour plus miscellaneous
charges such as archive usage fees, transportation, the issuing of the
certificates, etc at actual cost. For contacting both registry offices and
requesting information I would need probably 1 - 1.5 hours including writing
the letters, sorting your information and possible follow up.

Another option might be the search in the church book records of Blankenese.
I do not know up to which year they allow access to the church books for
Blankenese. But I will be conducting research at the archive where the
Blankenese church books are kept and will inquire about that.

I will revert after I got the information on the availability of the church
books for the in question.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for further assistance.

Happy New Year!

Andrea Bentschneider
