Where did you get these dates from?

His naturalisation record is available from the National Archives of Australia. Do you have that? It would show his arrival details. Unfortunately it is not yet digitised, so you would have to pay for that.

I could not find him on the assisted passenger lists into Queensland. Perhaps he was a seaman and came to Australia first in 1870 and later in 1872 as crew.
