Have you considered an alternate spelling to the Dawdy name such as "Doude,
Dowde,' etc.
A possibility is:

The date 1780 does suggest a Loyalist. Have you tried the UEL list? The
spelling of surnames from Colonial times varies greatly even in church
documents. If this proved to be your family, the above site has an
inventory from a will which would grace any tree with historical content.
