Lauraine,
NO ROLL CALLS, PLEASE. :-( If anyone wants to post a query about an
ancestor or anything else pertaining to Scots in Canada they are welcome and
encouraged to do so, but not a roll call. Posting something at any time
with an appropriate subject line (not including "roll call" or the like)
related to your subject matter is not only welcome, but is the very purpose
of the list, but the grumpy ol' List Admin gets grouchy when someone starts
a roll call.
If anyone wants to start something like that, with an entry in the subject
lines related to the topic of the post, then following are a few suggested
subjects that pop into my mind at the moment, but the list is by no means
restricted to just the subjects listed:
1. Your favorite ancestor (good or bad) or character in your ancestry and
why he/she is one of your favorites (I have one ancestor accused of piracy
on the high seas). :-(
2. Something about one (or more) of your favorite research locations or
resources
3. One of your personal "brick walls," genealogically speaking
4. Asking for help finding information on someone.
The above are just a few subjects that pop into my mind, but almost anything
else related to Scots in Canada is also appropriate. Sorry to be so
insistant, but roll calls themselves tend to get out of hand and in the long
run do not accomplish much so please cooperate with me on that.

Hi David:
Glad to meet you. Have not heard from this list in months, but have had
some problems since Sept. with my mts. email box which created many bounces
of incoming messages.
Perhaps a roll call would be in order to liven up the list? Just a
suggestion as it was done recently on the Shetland list and certainly had
great results.
