Greetings All,
I hope I am doing this correctly. My name is Eric M Smith. I live in
Kingston,NS,Canada. I enjoy playing with computers in general and I am an
Amateur Radio operator(VE1CFY). I am very new to genealogy. My interest got
sparked at a family gathering in July of this year. And as I have seen in
several sites on the net, I have been bitten by the bug.
I have started to research Smith(father), Armstrong(mother),
Legge(father-in-law), and Salter(mother-in-law). I have about 800 names in
my database so far. Most of my information has come from family records so
far. A vast majority of my Smith information is from a book The Smith's of
Cape Breton. Written by Perly W Smith and copyrited in 1967. This book was
republished in 1986. I had the good fortune to meet Perly when I was about
13 years old.
So far I have traced the Smith's back to a Ralph Smith born 1610 in
England. He came to Boston harbour on the ship Elizabeth Bonaventure, John
Graves was the Master. He married an Elizabeth Hobart and had 6 children.
Any further information would be greatly appreciated. If I can be of any
assistance to anyone else please let me know.
Yours,
Eric
