Hugh,

I have my SMITH line coming from the same general area....
Timothy and Daniel Smith were brothers I believe, who came from Rutland Co.
VT., and ended up along the border of Ohio and W. Va.
They are listed in the W.V. panhandle book for having to help some slaves
escape from a jail, near Point Pleasant. These two along with Obadiah Ralph
and others helped the slaves because they were being unjustly done to, as
the story goes. If this matches yout line
or if anyone else thinks this sounds familiar to their line, I would love to
hear from you.
