Joyce,
You said that Lucinda was found in the 1880 census with her siblings. What was the name of her father or mother? I have 2 SMITH lines! They are not easy to search.

The census states that both her parents were born in Mississippi. Lucinda married Angus Jefferson (Bud) Lewis in 1889 and they lived in Polk County, Texas. Family says that Lucinda's father was a preacher, probably Baptist. I suspect, but do not know for a fact, that Lucinda's father might have been in the civil war. I found a Lucinda Smith on the 1880 census for Polk County, along with siblings John, Missouri, and Rich (female). These may or may not be the family I am looking for. Family also says that Lucinda was at least part indian and looks it from the one picture I have of her. When Angus Jefferson and Lucinda divorced in 1927, he married a Molly (Jones) Smith. This Molly and Lucinda might have been related somehow. I would appreciate any help someone could give me.
