Subject: [SMITH] SMITH, Barbara - 1790 NC census

Does anyone have any information on the SMITH? I found her in the 1790
census for Salisbury Dist., Rowan Co., NC:
Smith, Barbara - 1 white male age16 +
2 white females, including head
6 slaves
Other SMITHs right next to her name are: Thomas, Andrew, Joseph,
Benjamin, George.

My ancestor, Joseph SMITH was born in 1790's NC, then went to SC,
then GA. He named a daughter Barbara. I am looking for his parents.
It could be that his grandmother was named Barbara. Because the
Barbara in the census is the head of household, and has no husband
listed,
or any sons under 16, I doubt this is his mother.
Would appreciate any information on her or on a possible father to my
Joseph SMITH who married Sophia ASHLEY.

Thanks,
Donna
